The power of plants | Greenery & Healthcare
Green is more than beautiful! Dozens of scientific studies endorse the power of plants: it makes an important contribution to climate issues, biodiversity, stress reduction, health, learning and work performance.1 These are all subjects in which greenery can help solve or alleviate problems.
Royal Lemkes and the Ronald Moerings Foundation (RMF) are joining forces to create a green oasis in and around the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek (AvL), the hospital and research institute in Amsterdam specialising in cancer. Together, we are committed to greening the central hall and outdoor gardens. This project promises to not only create a beautiful oasis, but also bring hope and confidence to those who need it most.
Greenery in healthcare environments offers benefits in relation to the recovery and well-being of patients and visitors. In the central hall and outdoor gardens, people gather, wait for treatments and find moments of rest and recovery. They are also meeting places for medical professionals, researchers and hospital staff.
Around 18 May, Fascination of Plants Day, this initiative draws extra attention to the power of plants and their scientific basis.
Royal Lemkes and the Ronald Moerings Foundation enter into a multi-year collaboration with the AvL. As a symbolic start to this collaboration, all reception desks within the AvL have been fitted with Opti-flor orchids, which supply themselves with water via Aquo-easy orchid watering, and the outdoor gardens feature lavender from Van der Salm.
The progress of the complete greening can be followed through our social media channels.
As chain partners, let us work together for a greener and healthier future.
On behalf of Royal Lemkes, Ronald Moerings Foundation and Antoni van Leeuwenhoek,
